The German Textile+Fashion Association (Gesamtverband textil+mode) and the German Retail Federation (Handelsverband Deutschland - HDE) have joined forces to publish for the first time a joint Code of Conduct for responsible corporate behavior in the German textile and fashion industry.
With the aim of supporting textile and fashion companies along their supply chains in fulfilling their social, ecological and ethical responsibilities, trade and industry present this groundbreaking Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct of the German textile and fashion industry is based on internationally recognized standards and comprises the relevant principles and standards of conduct for the industry. Designed as a voluntary commitment, it is available to all companies in the sector, regardless of whether they are manufacturers, retailers or service providers.
The Code of Conduct of the German textile and fashion industry helps companies to meet the increasing requirements for compliance and sustainability at home and abroad. The industry code is provided in German and English for all companies. Member companies of the associations organized at textil+mode and the HDE trade association also have access to ten other language versions of the code, as well as an abridged version. Accompanying materials such as implementation guides, sample self-disclosure forms for suppliers and webinars are currently being developed and are expected to be made available in stages from summer/fall 2022.
